Bookmobile Parade!

I saw this while I was working at the Ottawa Public Library yesterday and thought it was really cool. As a former Bookmobiler, I was really happy to see an event such as this! It’s a great service for people who cannot access a library and for new Canadians who are not familiar with their new city. Plus some of the buses look really cool!

I agree the bookmobiles did look cool and you were lucky to see them, but I enjoyed the other part of the post talking about participating in a Scholastic booksale. I have helped at booksales and shopped at them over the years as well as working at a used bookstore and there is nothing like watching a kid connect with a new book for the first time. Though a close second was taking a group of librarians to United Library Services in Calgary for a book buying trip. They were like kids in a candy store down to the discussions on the bus ride home about all the cool stuff they had scored for their libraries.
